Hello everyone, I am a newbie in the world of building computers. I just recently started a Computer Repair class, so I am hoping that I can learn a thing or two. I checked out your website and must say you have a lot of useful hints. Smile My new computer is going to be used for gaming purposes, mostly, may use it for graphic design later on.

Anyway, to what I was going to say... Could someone give me some feedback on my parts? Here is a link to my wish list with all the parts, thanks. Very Happy

Sorry for the delay.

I like your choices except I'm not too thrilled with the mobo selection. That board has had mixed reviews, and my own experiences with Asus have been mixed.

I do like the nVidia chipset, especially since you're also going with nVidia video. But that particular board has more than the usual number of unhappy campers. I'd look around and see if you can find something with a more solid reputation.

Also, as for your choice of XP-64, it will be out of support in a couple of years. Is there a reason you don't want to go with Vista (game compatibility, etc.)? Not that I'm a tremendous fan of Vista (nor Windows in general, for that matter), but buying an OS toward the end of its support life cycle means you're probably going to have to upgrade it in a couple years.

Then again, this is speculative. The government may force MS to extend the support life (at least for security updates) due to the reluctance of business users to upgrade to Vista; and by that time, you may be looking to replace the PC anyway.
